On Masters Sunday, Tiger Woods had an unexpected guest: his son Charlie.

AUGUSTA, Georgia — It turns out that Tiger Woods occasionally requires swing guidance.

It also turns out that only his son Charlie is deserving of receiving it on Masters Sunday.

Following a career-low, Woods ventured to the Augusta National practice range on Sunday. On Masters Saturday, he recorded the lowest score of his major championship career—a 10-over 82 that was so off that even Tiger had trouble understanding what went wrong.

“The fact that I was not hitting it very well or putting well,” he responded when asked about his shortcomings on Saturday, giving a broad overview of his entire game. “Just hit the ball where I know I shouldn’t be hitting it. I also squandered a lot of putts. Makeable, simple putts. I didn’t see many of them.

But then there he was, in his well-known Sunday red (and Sun Day Red), and there was optimism once more that he could turn around his Masters. First of all, seeing Tiger Woods strip golf balls at the range makes it difficult not to believe in him. Furthermore, a well-known countenance strolled out right behind him.

Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old new kid on the block, showed out at the shooting range on Sunday morning to offer his father spiritual support. and in an attempt to assist the 15-time major champion in making sense of things.

Charlie, who was wearing brand-new Nike AF1s and a hat with the SDR logo, gave advice on his father’s current form during their extended warm-up. Working on the Masters featured group broadcast at the time, Billy Kratzert said he saw Charlie seemingly pushing his father to have the club “exit to the left,” which would prevent the arms from running off and enable the body to continue moving.

It is important to acknowledge that Charlie is uniquely qualified to provide this kind of guidance before we go any further. Firstly, he has the best golfer of this generation as his career swing teacher, thus he is far more familiar with the subtleties and complexities of his game than most people. Additionally, he has developed into a really skilled young golfer, competing at the top junior golf levels and even earning a unique exemption that allowed him to qualify for a PGA Tour event on Monday.

Before Tiger headed to the first tee box for his final round at Augusta National, the two worked through the swing checkpoint for a few minutes. Tiger Woods has not had a kind week at the Masters, ending up on the wrong side of the tee time draw and seeing his game falter as the week went on. However, the sight of his son Charlie on Sunday was a pleasant surprise, coming just days after Woods told reporters that his son had declined the opportunity to come play a practice round here with Dad.

Tiger is commemorating a unique Masters memory this Sunday by becoming the first player in tournament history to make 24 consecutive cuts, even though he won’t admit it. And what could be a better way to help him cap off the week than spending some time at the range with his son?

A poor score, then. However, this is also quite helpful.
