After winning the RBC Heritage on Monday, Scottie Scheffler increased his lead over Rory McIlroy at the top of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).

After a postponed final round, Scheffler won his 10th PGA Tour title at Harbour Town, building on his victory at the Masters last week. By doing this, the American made history by becoming the first winner on the PGA Tour just one week after winning the green jacket at Augusta National, following Tiger Woods in 2006.

In the past few months, Scheffler’s play has drawn comparisons to the legendary Woods. He has won two back-to-back tournaments, the Players Championship, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and four of his previous five starts.

By achieving this, he has further cemented his place atop the world rankings and opened up a significant lead over his nearest competitor, four-time major winner Rory McIlroy. So much so that the 15-time major champion Woods, who is ranked 784th, is farther behind world No. 2 McIlroy in terms of ranking points.

Scheffler was three shots off the lead going into the weekend at Harbour Town, but he took control of the competition with a fantastic eight-under-par 63 on Saturday to take the lead with 18 holes remaining. On Sunday, he repeated the feat by eagleing his second hole of the day and then making a birdie at the fifth.

He then proceeded to make seven consecutive pars before adding another birdie to his total at the thirteenth hole. At the par-five fifteenth hole, he saw his second shot soar right and into the water hazard, marking his first error of the weekend. However, in classic Scheffler manner, he fought his way to a hard-earned par before play was halted.

Scottie Scheffler has moved further ahead of Rory McIlroy

After making a comeback on Monday, he easily won the event by three strokes, despite making a bogey at the last. In the aftermath, he talked about his consecutive success, saying: “Yeah, coming here to play was part of our goal this week.

“I got to spend a few days celebrating at home. I wasn’t really thoughtful about it. I had promised to participate in the competition. It was basically just that. Not much thought had been given to that. I agreed to play here since that was in the plan, and we followed it.

I discussed it earlier in the week; I didn’t come here expecting to be congratulated and have a ceremony of some kind. I had a reason for coming here. had a sluggish start, but after that, he played some excellent golf. Scheffler and his wife Meredith are currently expecting their first child in the coming weeks, therefore they have decided to take a break before the PGA Championship next month.
