The arraignment date for Scottie Scheffler, who faces numerous charges related to an incident at Valhalla involving a Louisville Metro police officer, has been postponed.

The arraignment date, which was initially set for Tuesday, May 21, has been rescheduled until June 3, according to court documents released on Monday. Scheffler will enter a not guilty plea, according to statements made to several news sources by his attorney, Steve Romines.

Ahead of the PGA Championship’s second round, Scheffler was detained on Friday morning outside Valhalla Golf Club. He was accused with second-degree assault on a police officer, criminal mischief, and reckless driving. Scheffler is accused of attempting to enter the club by driving past a police officer in defiance of the officer’s orders.

While Bryan Gillis, the arresting officer, was injured and his pants were damaged when he was dragged by Scheffler’s automobile, Scheffler claimed that the event was a misunderstanding. The incident’s nature was questioned by Scheffler’s attorney.

On Friday, Romines stated, “[Scheffler] was driving a marked player’s vehicle with credentials visible and proceeding as directed by another traffic officer.” “These allegations stem from Scottie allegedly ignoring another officer’s traffic signals in the commotion. Several eyewitnesses have attested to the fact that he was acting in accordance with instructions and did nothing improper. When told to stop, he did so right away, and he never once used his car to attack an officer. He will be entirely cleared, and we will pursue this legal action as necessary.

Craig Greenberg, the mayor of Louisville, informed local media sites on Saturday that Gillis had not turned on his body camera.Later on, Greenberg mentioned that there was a camera across the street, and it was hoped that it would capture Scheffler’s arrest and eventually lead to his release.

Following his detention on Friday, Scheffler made his way back to Valhalla and scored 66 in the second round. However, he was tired out by the tumultuous circumstances and went on to win the third round on Saturday with a 73. Scheffler recovered with a 65 in the last round, tying for seventh place.
