L’Jarius Sneed, a cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs, now has the option to be traded if the two parties are unable to come to an agreement on a long-term contract. Additionally, Sportskeeda One team that may be interested in making a trade for the talented corner has already been mentioned by NFL insider Tony Pauline:

The Falcons of Atlanta.

On February 28, Pauline reported, “As of Wednesday morning, word was that one franchise interested in potentially trading for the cornerback is the Atlanta Falcons, a team that was hot on Sneed’s trail if he hit free agency.”

By tagging Sneed, Kansas City has a longer window of opportunity to permanently imprison him. Sneed was chosen by the team in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The organization now has until July 15 to reach an agreement with him on a long-term contract.

An agreement that pays Sneed $65.3 million over three years, or an average annual value (AAV) of $16.3 million, is worth it, based on Spotrac’s estimation of his market value.

Pauline: L’Jarius Sneed attracted the attention of the Broncos and Eagles

Pauline disclosed that the Denver Broncos, an AFC West opponent of Kansas City, had expressed interest in Sneed prior to him being franchise-tagged.

On February 27, Pauline wrote, “The Denver Broncos are another team that has expressed interest in Sneed, which is interesting on a number of fronts.”

Some people believe Denver would have a strong cornerback tandem if Sneed and Patrick Surtain were together. Others, however, have directly informed me—something I first revealed during Shrine Bowl practices—that Sneed would provide insurance if they offered Surtain as part of a package to advance and select one of the top-ranked quarterbacks.

But Pauline also pointed out that Sneed would need to become a free agent and that the Broncos “would have to shed salary for any of this to happen.”

According to Pauline, a number of the Philadelphia Eagles, another NFC team, are courting Sneed to join Kansas City’s erstwhile Super Bowl foe.

“According to sources, three of Sneed’s Louisiana Tech college classmates who are currently playing for the Eagles are aggressively enticing the cornerback to come to Philadelphia through text messages and other channels. Sneed’s teammates at Louisiana Tech, running back Boston Scott, defensive lineman Milton Williams, and tight end Griffin Hebert, are encouraging their former teammate to join with the Eagles should he become available.

Brett Veach Discusses Chris Jones’s Upcoming Free Agent Status

With Sneed carrying the franchise tag, the Chiefs will now have until March 5 to reach a new contract agreement with All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones. Jones is set to become a free agent at the beginning of the upcoming league season.

During the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, general manager Brett Veach spoke with the media on Kansas City’s intention to keep Jones.

We get to see the agents this week, and Chris Jones, along with LJ (L’Jarius Sneed) and many of our guys, is at the top of the list, Veach said in reference to Jones, “I mean, just like last year.” “Love Chris — after the Detroit game, we got together and had a terrific conversation. I believe that both of us want to stay here, even though we worked really hard to get things done and didn’t. We’ll start to work, and we really want that person back, to love him, and to see him complete his career in Kansas City.
