The Australian Grand Prix will resume its custom of serving as the season’s first race on the Formula 1 race schedule in 2025.
The Bahrain Grand Prix has replaced the COVID-19 pandemic as the season’s opening event. However, in order to accommodate Ramadan, this year’s race and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix that followed both took place on Saturdays.
Albert Park will host the opening race once again in 2025, with both of those races taking place later. Melbourne has an agreement to host the Australian Grand Prix until 2035, and part of that agreement states that it will take place at least five seasons after the previous year’s race.
When it returns to that time slot the following year, Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari driving debut will take place at Albert Park. The seven-time Formula One champion has decided to leave Mercedes at the end of current season and join the Italian team.
According to an F1 press release, the schedule consists of 24 races, starting on March 16 in Australia and ending on December 7 in Abu Dhabi. In 2025, the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will be place in April due to Ramadan falling over the entire month of March.
“The changes made to the calendar in 2024 to create a better geographical flow of races have been carried over to 2025, with Japan in April following Australia and China, followed predominantly by the European races over the summer and the Americas during the Autumn, before Qatar and Abu Dhabi finish the season back-to-back.”
There are no new locations added to the schedule for the 24-race calendar in 2025. Following Australia, Formula One travels to China and Japan prior to the races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. A week before to the customary Monaco Grand Prix on the last weekend of May, the European season gets underway at Imola in the middle of the month.

The 2025 British Grand Prix is slated to take place on July 6, followed by races in Belgium and Hungary prior to the summer vacation. The European season will conclude in September with Baku hosting its race once more. The campaign will be concluded with a triple header in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.
“2025 will be a special year as we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the FIA Formula One World Championship, and it’s that legacy and experience that allows us to deliver such a strong calendar,” stated Stefano Domenicali, chief executive of Formula One. Once more, we’ll travel to 24 amazing locations across the globe to provide world-class racing, hospitality, and entertainment that millions of fans will love.
“We appreciate the FIA’s dedication and assistance in putting together this schedule and securing what looks to be another outstanding year for Formula 1, as well as those of our promoters, host city partners, and all associated ASNs. In addition, I want to honor our F1 teams and drivers, the sport’s heroes, and the millions of fans who follow Formula 1 worldwide for their unwavering passion.”
