The Briton maintained his composure in the face of a charging Max Verstappen to win his first race since 2021 at Silverstone, the site of the championship’s final round. Hamilton’s triumph was his first in 945 days.

FIA inspection of Lewis Hamilton’s W15 was successful.

For Mercedes team manager Toto Wolff, the victory was “honest.”
“We have an honest win,” the team manager stated following Silverstone, despite the fact that it wasn’t the first race of Mercedes’ 2024 campaign with George Russell P1 a week earlier in the Hungary.

“We were there in almost all conditions, with George and Lewis leading the way and us having the real pace.”

And there they were, Hamilton’s W15 passing both the more thorough FIA check and the normal post-race legality checks.

Every Grand Prix sees all 20 cars go through post-race legality inspections, and one of the top ten is selected at random for a close inspection. This close inspection test was added to the FIA’s current procedures back in 2021.

Hamilton’s W15 came in second after Silverstone.

According to the FIA report, “car number 44 was randomly selected among the top ten cars for more thorough physical inspections following the British Grand Prix.”

The whole ICE air intake system, including the engine plenum, charge air cooler, and all associated sensors, as well as their loom routing and connections to the SECU and other units, were all subject to these physical inspections.

It was discovered that every component under inspection complied with the 2024 Formula One Technical Regulations.

The massive amount of data from the British Grand Prix

It remains to be seen if Mercedes, who are now two from two, can maintain their winning streak in Hungary.

“We have momentum going into the upcoming double header,” stated Wolff. “In recent races, we have made more progress with the W15. This has produced newsworthy outcomes in Austria and Silverstone.

But we are aware that now we lack a vehicle capable of competing for wins on a weekly basis.

The team is putting a lot of effort on adding more performance tiers that should help us achieve that goal. These initiatives will be carried out during the following two races and till shutdown.
