Max Verstappen is currently leading the Formula One drivers’ championship standings at the summer break. Will he surpass Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris on our list of the finest performances thus far in 2024?

It’s time for another Formula 1 summer break, and Max Verstappen is leading the championship once more. Although he has a sizable lead over nearest rival Lando Norris, it is not due to Red Bull dominance, as it was in the previous two seasons.

They currently face three more formidable rivals in addition to McLaren, who is particularly potent. This is evident in the constructors’ championship, where there is now only a 42-point difference.

Ferrari isn’t much behind either, and with Sergio Perez still fighting for the lead, it should provide for an exciting championship battle during the last ten races of the season.

However, the focus of this power rankings list is on the 21 drivers that have competed this year and their respective machine capabilities, not the teams. Oliver Bearman’s incredible cameo for Ferrari in Saudi Arabia is the reason it’s 21; you won’t be shocked to learn that he does well on this ranking.

Three of those twenty-one names have already won a race this year. After a lengthy drought, Lewis Hamilton finally found success at Silverstone, and George Russell’s disqualification at the Belgian Grand Prix made the seven-time Formula One champion the only driver not named Verstappen to have won more than once in 2024. Elsewhere, Oscar Piastri, a teammate who is enjoying a fantastic sophomore season in Formula One, and Lando Norris both finally found their target.

After losing his Ferrari seat to Hamilton and then his appendix, Carlos Sainz retaliated in style by taking the top step in Melbourne. Charles Leclerc finally prevailed in Monaco.

However, not everyone has had a fantastic year. Perez is a prime example, as he barely managed to avoid being replaced by Red Bull over this summer break. But what is the comparative analysis of each person’s campaign? Our half-term driver report with grades is attached.
