Before Lewis Hamilton joined the Ferrari team formally, he might have already experienced a setback.
As he starts his farewell tour with Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton has opened up about his challenging start to the season and his form since last winning a grand prix.
Lewis Hamilton has declared that he has “had enough” of failing to win a grand prix and that he will turn things around in his last season with Mercedes.
The 39-year-old Hamilton made the unexpected announcement in February that he would be leaving Mercedes at the end of the current season and joining Ferrari in 2025. The British player made “one of the hardest decisions” of his career to move on, even though he only signed a new multi-year contract eight months ago.
But his final season at Mercedes has not exactly gone as planned. With his best result coming in sixth place at the Miami Grand Prix, Hamilton has not placed in the top five in any of the first six races. As a result, he now sits in ninth place in the Drivers’ Standings with just 27 points.
But his form hasn’t been particularly strong lately. In actuality, Hamilton hasn’t finished on the podium since finishing in second place in Mexico in October, and his last grand prix victory occurred during the final race of the 2021 season. Hamilton is keen to improve his form despite this.
“I think everyone in the team, they want it to be a great year,” he stated to CBS. “Working at the factory, everyone has put in more effort than ever before.
“Because I love this team so deeply, this entire trip has been really emotional for me. I’m not unhappy there, so I’m not leaving. My departure is not due to problems in my relationship.
“I have loved Mercedes since I was 13 years old. I adore the folks. They have supported me through good times and bad. Thus, the transition is undoubtedly peculiar at the moment.
From his first year in 2007 to the 2022 campaign, Hamilton had won a grand prix in every season. However, he might go three straight seasons without winning.

“It’s been difficult,” he said. Naturally, our purpose is to succeed, and when that doesn’t happen, you have to change your viewpoint. And all that’s been involved is improvement and chase. It has to do with uniting.
“What changes can we make? How can we regroup, get everyone out, and get back to where we want to be? Actually, I had a great time throughout the encounter. But after three years, we decide to return to our proper place because we’ve had enough of this.
