After that, Rickie Fowler shared some fresh information on the tech-based league that Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods are backing, which is scheduled to launch in 2025. The indoor golf league was set to begin play earlier this year, but it was unable to carry out its trial season due to the collapse of its SoFi facility during a power outage. As a result, a new steel venue was built, with January 2025 being the most recent date the officials gave.

There has been some extra data gathered as the arrangements for the upcoming year get under way. In a video, Fowler outlined the league’s rules and structure and offered his thoughts on the addition of a shot clock, hammer, timeouts, referee, and microphones for the golfers. Here is a thorough explanation of the remainder.

Rickie Fowler Provides Hints and Excerpts About Tiger Woods’ New League

TGL released a video showing how the holes will be played. Each team will have 40 seconds to attempt a shot at the 64 by 46-foot simulated screen after starting on the actual grass tee box. The golfers would be taking their following shots wherever the shot ends up on the screen. It may come from the rough, the sand, or the fairway.

In order to complete the hole, golfers must hit their ball into the short game area, which is roughly equivalent to four basketball courts. After then, each stroke will cause the shot clock to start running. Two sessions will comprise the match: a three-on-three alternate shot session in the first half and singles matches over the remaining six holes in the second half. A team will receive one point if it wins by just one hole.

Any club that wins both regulation games will receive two points toward their season total. Ultimately, a single club will be eliminated from the semi-finals and “best-of-three” championship when the top four teams are given the opportunity to compete in the playoffs. Teams will have two timeouts every session, every night, with varying formats for added entertainment value.

According to information obtained from the TGL authorities, the referee will be,

“a seasoned veteran when it comes to refereeing top athletes in pressure situations” with experience about “timeouts, shot clocks, and team sports.”

The entire event will be televised on ESPN, and the players will have microphones to discuss personal matters and player plans. Additionally, the league will feature two-hour weekly matchups between a total of six teams.

You’ll see elite athletes like Rickie Fowler, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and others in action. Unfortunately, Jon Rahm backed out last year and joined LIV Golf, thus he won’t be playing at TGL. As a result, the league will only permit PGA Tour players to participate.

There’s still more to come for the cutting-edge new league. To watch if things work out this time and whether Woods’ new endeavor is successful.
