Liberty media today announced the takeover of MotoGP. The Formula 1 owner takes over MotoeGP parent company Dorna. It is expected the acquisition will be completed by the end of the year subject to clearance and approval by competition and foreign investors.

Liberty media is expected to acquire atleast more than 80% of Dorna while the Dorna management retains the reamining share. Liberty joins the league of investors to own both Formula 1 and MotoGP.

Carmelo Ezpeleta is expected to remain in his post as the CEO, a position he has been serving since 1994 while the business headquarters remains in Madrid spain.

Greg Maffei, Liberty media president and CEO while speaking to the press expressed his joy and enthusiasm toward what he discribe as a massive project.
