Kellen Moore is apparently going to be hired by the Philadelphia Eagles to be their offensive coordinator.
The Philadelphia Eagles have signed veteran journeyman signal caller Will Grier to provide Jalen Hurts with additional quarterback depth.
The 28-year-old Grier split the 2023 season between the practice squads of the Los Angeles Chargers and the New England Patriots.
Grier played under Kellen Moore, the new offensive coordinator of the Eagles, in Los Angeles, sharing a quarterback room with Justin Herbert.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the initial news on Grier’s agreement.
In two games during the 2019 NFL Draft, Grier—who was initially selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round—completed 28 of 52 passing attempts for 228 yards.
Following the Eagles’ trade to acquire Kenny Pickett from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Grier signed a contract to become Hurts’ primary backup in 2024.
Grier and the West Virginia standout spent two seasons together because they were teammates with the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 and 2022.
But Grier now has the chance to serve as a liaison between Moore and the other quarterbacks in the room, assisting Hurts and Pickett in becoming familiar with the vocabulary and ideas of a new offensive scheme.

Picked in the first round of the 2022 selection, Pickett may not have the same chance to start in Philadelphia as he had with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he still says he is excited to be joining the Eagles.
During his inaugural news conference, Pickett stated to the media, “I wanted to get a chance to go somewhere else and continue to grow my career.” The fact that it’s in Philadelphia, where I was raised and first developed a love for the game, along with a fantastic coaching staff and roster of players—I’m forward to meet them all when everyone returns to town in a few weeks—as well as the fact that it’s a fantastic opportunity to join this team.
With a 62.6 percent completion rate for 4,474 yards and 13 touchdowns against 13 interceptions in his first two seasons with the Steelers, Pickett was a highly inconsistent player. The Steelers moved Pickett soon after acquiring experienced quarterback Russell Wilson, who would eventually replace him as the starting quarterback in 2023.
With two years left on his current contract and $1.9 million and $2.6 million in cap space in 2024 and 2025, respectively, Pickett is a former University of Pittsburgh standout. The Eagles will have two years to assess whether he can be the team’s long-term developmental backup quarterback or perhaps flip him in a future trade.
The Eagles maintain one of the best salary cap situations in the NFL.
Despite their aggressive addition of players with the potential to be great starters and seasoned senior backups during free agency, the Eagles have one of the strongest salary cap situations as of March 23.
The Eagles have about $34.2 million in salary space for 2024, even after adding players like wide outs DeVante Parker and Parris Campbell, running back Saquon Barkley, linebacker Zack Baun, and depth players like Grier.
With respect to spending freedom, the Eagles now have the sixth-most in the league with their cap space.
