Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of Tiger Woods, is participating in another high-profile golf qualifying event this week, two months after his first one. Charlie is teeing off at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina on Thursday for the first round of the Florida Golf Association’s 18-hole local qualifying, which takes place in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The best scorers in this round move on to the 36-hole final qualifying, which takes place in June.

At the Legacy Golf & Tennis Club, there are 84 players in the field, and five are predicted to advance. Charlie Woods is making his maiden attempt at qualifying for the US Open.

It’s interesting to note that three-time U.S. Open champion Tiger Woods is not yet in the field at Pinehurst, but over the course of the next month, the USGA is likely to extend an offer of a special exemption to him.

Charlie Woods garnered significant attention from the media in February as he entered a Monday qualifier for the Cognizant Classic on the PGA Tour. He made a 16-over-par 86, which included a 12-point score on a par-4.
