On Thursday, Mainoo and Casemiro were absent from team practice.

Due to illness, Kobbie Mainoo was unable to train with Manchester United on Thursday. However, manager Erik ten Hag is optimistic that the midfield player will accompany the team to Brentford for their Saturday night kickoff. Mainoo earned his first cap for England during last week’s 1-0 loss to Brazil, and he was the star of the show in his full debut on Tuesday in a 2-2 draw with Belgium. The 18-year-old was not visible in the photos or videos that United released from their Thursday training session, and Ten Hag acknowledged that Mainoo had been sick.

“He was sick yesterday, so he skipped training. I’m not sure if he’ll be suitable for Brentford. We wish. He is there (in training) today; he is not entirely recovered, but we still have a lot of time before kickoff at 8 p.m. tomorrow.”

Ten Hag said that Casemiro would make a comeback to the team following his hamstring injury that kept him out of the FA Cup quarterfinal win over Liverpool. This week, Casemiro has trained outside, but Ten Hag was unsure if he would start against Brentford.

“Casemiro? He is progressing well because he has now had several workouts on the field and yesterday’s team training. We need to determine whether to wait or if he starts when we go tomorrow.”

After groin surgery 10 weeks ago, Anthony Martial is expected to return next week. When Martial’s contract expires in the summer, he will undoubtedly be released, and Ten Hag stated emphatically that it “depends on him” if Martial plays for United once more.

Although he hasn’t yet joined the team, Martial is back on the field. Will he participate once more? That is dependent upon him. How soon is he back, and what kind of levels is he displaying?”

When United travels to Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Arsenal in May, they anticipate Luke Shaw’s hamstring injury to heal. United hopes to make the FA Cup final for the second year in a row, and their rescheduled Premier League home game against Newcastle is scheduled for May.

But Ten Hag is hesitant to name the precise game in which Shaw should make a comeback. The man from Holland stated: “It is difficult to point to what is the game he will return but the plan is that he will return before the end of the season so he can still be involved in some games this season.”
