The wide receiver position on the Detroit Lions roster still needs to be filled, and it hasn’t been done at all this offseason. However, the squad might easily cover that gap by re-signing Josh Reynolds, their starter from the 2023 campaign.

At the annual league convention in Orlando, Florida, general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell of the Lions both stated that the organization is open to Reynolds coming back for the next season.

According to Justin Rogers of The Detroit News, Campbell stated, “Look, we’re still in contact with J-Rey.” “I don’t believe it’s a secret what we think of him as a player—his versatility, his unselfishness, and his willingness to put in the dirty work. Look, just because I adore J-Rey doesn’t mean that tasks won’t get completed.

Holmes and Campbell are in agreement.
According to Jeremy Reisman of SB Nation’s Pride of Detroit, Holmes stated, “[Reynolds is] one that was part of the original plans.” We’ll just kind of see where that goes while we continue to have dialogue. However, that is essentially the only person who was originally intended to survive.

Reynolds finished 2023 with 40 receptions, 608 receiving yards, and five touchdowns, ranking second among Lions wide receivers. He also had a 15.2 yard average on each reception.
