The Tennessee Titans outbid the Dallas Cowboys on Tony Pollard.

Tony Pollard has agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans, meaning the Dallas Cowboys will now need to find a new starting running back. Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports that Pollard and the Titans have verbally agreed to a three-year, $24 million contract. Reminder: Agreements are not final until Wednesday, March 13, 2024, when the next league year starts.

The announcement implies that not only is Dallas looking for a new running back, but the Titans are also anticipated to put Derrick Henry’s period behind them. Given that Henry is a free agent as well, there will undoubtedly be some Cowboys supporters who want the two running backs to switch places.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Cowboys, Giants, and Vikings were also participating in the Pollard contest. It comes as no surprise that Pollard was given the “bigger payday” by the Titans.

keen a message posted on X on March 11, Russini explained, “The Dallas Cowboys were in on RB Tony Pollard.” The Vikings and Giants were also interested in him. According to accounts, he accepted Tennessee’s larger salary.

Tony Pollard Resigned from Dallas without taking advantage of the rumored hometown discount.

The announcement follows days after Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News revealed that Pollard was prepared to accept a lower salary in order to stay with the Cowboys. This suggests that the Titans’ offer was noticeably superior to the Cowboys’.

In an article published on March 6 under the headline “Tony Pollard open to taking less for Cowboys return, will test free agency market,” Watkins stated that “a person with knowledge of Pollard’s thinking told The Dallas Morning News the former fourth-round pick is open to returning, even if the contract from another team is slightly higher than the Cowboys’ offer.”

“Before speaking with Dallas, Pollard should receive as many offers as possible,” a team executive told The News, speaking to The News on condition of anonymity due to the delicate nature of contract negotiations.
