Chris Jones, an All-Pro defensive tackle, reacted to his huge contract on X, previously Twitter, just after it was announced that Jones had inked a five-year, $95 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs on March 9.

His first message said, “Let’s goooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!” and his second said, “KC..5 more years of awesomeness! 3x,” along with a photo of Jones with his teammate Mike Pennel.

Overtaking Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams, Jones is currently the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history, according to his agency, Katz Brothers Sports. Jones’s contract is “almost” worth $160 million, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, with $95 million in “practical guarantees.”

Jones, 29, played in 16 regular season games for the Chiefs in 2023 while on a revised one-year contract. According to PFF, he recorded 75 total quarterback pressures (43 hurries, 8 hits, 14 sacks), 21 stops, and 3 batted passes.

Jones recorded 16 QB pressures in total during Kansas City’s recent Super Bowl run in January and February, including 10 hurries, 5 hits, 1 sack, 4 stops, 2 batted passes, and 1 forced fumble.

Having been selected to the All-Pro team twice, Jones is regarded as the Chiefs’ second most valuable player, after quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The two-time defending Super Bowl champions were prepared to provide the game-changing defensive a historically large salary because of this.

Chris Jones became Brett Veach’s first priority.

The fact that Kansas City was able to reach an agreement with Jones should not come as a surprise, since general manager Brett Veach stated clearly that the Chiefs’ primary goal was to re-sign Jones during his remarks to the media at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.

We get to meet the agents this week, just like we did with Chris (Jones), LJ (L’Jarius Sneed), and several of our players last year. He’s at the top of the list, according to Veach. “Love Chris, despite our best efforts, we were unable to complete the task at hand. We had a wonderful conversation when we got together immediately following the Detroit game, and I believe that both parties want to stay here. We’ll go to work.

We would definitely like to adore and get back together with that guy. We hope he ends his career in Kansas City.

“The day’s best news! You’re worthy of it. Work ethic has paid off handsomely,” a another user commented. Though I’m genuinely glad for you, I’m selfishly pleased for our team. Congrats! You have a lot of reasons to be proud of yourself.
