Enzo Fernandez, a midfielder for Chelsea, will travel with his teammates to the United States for the club’s preseason after he was allegedly involved in a racist and homophobic chant while on international duty.

After sparking a racist storm earlier this month, Enzo Fernandez WILL travel to the United States with the Chelsea team on their preseason trip.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who earlier this year won the Copa America with Argentina, posted a video of himself and a few teammates allegedly screaming a racist and homophobic slogan against France during their celebrations following the game.

According to a recent article from The Mail, Fernandez’s antics have infuriated his teammates, and he will meet them in person when he travels abroad to the US in the coming days.

It states that Fernandez, who the club is now investigating, will travel to the United States on Monday. He will ‘had to heal the mess he made’ with his teammates, some of whom have openly denounced his behavior, according to the newspaper.

Fernandez might play in the remaining tour matches for Chelsea. Before heading back to the UK in time for the start of the new Premier League season, the Blues will play Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Club America.

Following the video’s global success, the midfield player has responded to criticism of it. Reiterating that the video does not “reflect my beliefs or my character,” he apologized for his conduct.

Reece James, the captain of Chelsea, acknowledged earlier this week that he had tried to talk to Fernandez before realizing that the consequences of his actions may negatively impact the Blues locker room.

James said to ESPN when asked if it will have an effect on the team, “Of sure. People will always find something that bothers them when there might be an issue. However, I hope that everything can be settled amicably and that the season can continue until the day that everyone is there and in the same room.

He went on: “We were in different time zones, so it was difficult for me to talk to him.” Truly just a casual conversation. His opinions on the events, as well as his attempts to clarify his circumstances and the course of events. It’s a very challenging circumstance. In football, racism and bigotry have no place.

“I believe he instantly raised his hand, said he had erred, and expressed his regret to the club, his teammates, and the other offended parties. That, in my opinion, was the best thing he could have done at the time.”
