Toto Wolff, the team principal for Mercedes, has assessed Lewis Hamilton’s chances for this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

With a win in 945 days, the home hero’s historic victory gave Mercedes much to cheer about at Silverstone.

Nevertheless, the team did not have an easy time at the British Grand Prix, as George Russell was forced to quit from the competition due to an unlucky problem with the water systems.

The Silver Arrows have been competitive again recently, as Russell won his second Formula 1 race in Austria the week before his disappointing performance at Silverstone.

The team will be aiming to make it three straight at the Hungaroring with the Hungarian Grand Prix approaching.

Wolff is skeptical of Mercedes’s future, even if Hamilton gave them a race that was nothing short of a fairytale in their final home race with the team.

Wolff stated in a news statement issued by the Brackley-based team: “We are confident going into the forthcoming double header.

In recent races, we have been improving with the W15. That has had newsworthy outcomes in Silverstone and Austria.

“We are aware that we do not yet own a vehicle capable of contending for victory on a weekly basis, he conceded.

As stated by Wolff, “The team is working hard to bring more steps of performance that we hope will enable us to do that,” Hungary offers the squad an opportunity to push their limits.

These initiatives will be carried out during the following two races and till shutdown. The Hungaroring has a distinct personality from the previous two circuits.

It has only one significant straight stretch, but a lot of tight and curvy corners, unlike Silverstone. It will be another useful test of the improvements we’ve made across the corner speed range, though, because it does include several high-speed turns as well.

Anticipating the Summer vacation, “We head into the weekend focused on doing the best job we can,” Wolff continued.

Our goal is to keep up this winning trend and end the season’s first half with maximum force.
