Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time champion, shared insight into his recovery process following his disputed 2021 title loss to Max Verstappen. He disclosed that he is still working on improving himself in order to “find that inner peace day by day.”

Hamilton’s belief that he still has the ability to win races was reinforced by his recent triumph in the British Grand Prix, which revealed his emotional side to his supporters.

In addition to being a victory, the victory at Silverstone represented a major advancement in his recuperation from the title loss in 2021, which was a setback from which he took a long time to recover.

After all, Verstappen’s championship victory came from the very contentious Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi that wrapped up the 2021 season. The FIA fired former race director Michael Masi as a result of the controversy, even though the race’s result could not be altered.

Mercedes has not been able to give Hamilton a strong title candidate who can win races since the ground effect era began in 2022. The 39-year-old driver finally secured his maiden victory of the period at Silverstone in his W15, capping two years of trials and growth.

As the 2022 season got underway, Hamilton thought he had moved on from the incident, but it took him a long time to recover. He now acknowledges, though, that Verstappen’s victory over him after the contentious Abu Dhabi event did not bother him. He shared his opinions with RacingNews365.com.

To be really honest, I believed I was done with it when I returned in 2022. And I’m aware that I wasn’t, and healing from that kind of emotion has undoubtedly taken a while.

And for anyone who has gone through it, that is only normal. And I’ve just been trying day by day to improve myself and discover that inner serenity.”

If his recent victory at the British Grand Prix played a role in his recuperation, he responded as follows:

“Time will tell, I believe.

“I will not give up, that much I can say.

“I believe that the choices I’m making in my life—how I plan ahead and manage my time, the choice I made for the upcoming year, my continued devotion to this team, and my continued passion for both my work and this team—are all positive.

“I genuinely adore my work. And there will never be anything comparable to it. And to be among these 20 drivers in this wonderful sport at such a historic time is something for which I am immensely thankful.”
