Hamilton will depart Mercedes for Ferrari at the end of 2024

After losing the 2021 championship to Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton has talked about his recovery period.

According to Lewis Hamilton, it has taken him a “long time” to get over the hurt he felt after Max Verstappen controversially won the 2021 Formula One Championship.

Following one of the most contentious race finishes in Formula One history, which led to the resignation of former race director Michael Masi from the FIA, the seven-time world champion lost the 2021 championship. Hamilton has not won in 945 complete days before to the British Grand Prix.

After breaking his winning streak—which may have been his last one for Mercedes before joining Ferrari—he was overcome with emotion.

Hamilton appeared back to his best in the British Grand Prix despite his struggles since 2021. After rejoicing in his comeback to the top step of the podium, he spoke candidly on whether or not his victory was a factor in his 2021 healing process.

Hamilton said to a restricted group of media, including RacingNews365, “I think only time will tell.” “I will not give up, that much I can say.

“I believe that I’m making the correct choices in my life—how I prepare and manage my time, the choice I made for the upcoming year, my continued devotion to this team, and my continued love for my work.

“I believe that I’m making the correct choices in my life—how I prepare and manage my time, the choice I made for the upcoming year, my continued devotion to this team, and my continued love for my work.

“I genuinely adore my work. And there will never be anything comparable to it. And to be among these 20 drivers in this wonderful sport at such a historic time is something for which I am immensely thankful.”

Discovering “inner peace”

More than they may ever acknowledge, Hamilton and Mercedes suffered more when he lost the 2021 championship the way he did.

Hamilton thought he had moved on from the incident at the beginning of the 2022 season, but it has taken him a long time to recover.

However, he openly confesses that he was not over losing the title to Verstappen the season after the disputed occurrence in Abu Dhabi.  In light of what transpired, the 39-year-old thinks that makes sense.

Hamilton said, “To be honest, I thought I was over it when I came back in 2022.” And I’m aware that I wasn’t, and healing from that kind of emotion has undoubtedly taken a while.

And for anyone who has gone through it, that is only normal. And I’ve just been trying day by day to improve myself and discover that inner serenity.”
