Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott feels his team’s time is almost here after five years of making it to the postseason but agonizingly missing out on the Super Bowl.

During the NFL Scouting Combine, McDermott talked to Tim Graham of The Athletic about his team’s recent postseason missteps, which included losing to the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes three times.

McDermott stated that despite the challenges, he is optimistic that the Bills will win the Super Bowl soon.

Super Bowl Prediction by Sean McDermott

Several anonymous players and past coaches criticized McDermott in a three-part piece published by Go Long’s Tyler Dunne during the season. The series was released concurrently with the Bills’ 6-6 record, which put them three games behind the Miami Dolphins for the top spot in the AFC East and well outside of the playoff picture.

From then on, the team’s fortunes took a significant turn for the worst. The Bills won five games in a row to close up the regular season, earning the No. 2 overall seed and their fourth consecutive AFC East championship.

However, the Bills were defeated by a well-known foe, the Chiefs, in the divisional round, after missing a game-tying field goal in the closing moments. McDermott expressed optimism that his squad would eventually be able to break through and win a Super Bowl despite the difficult season finale.

It isn’t a question of whether. In the article that was released on February 26, McDermott said to Graham, “It’s just a matter of when.” “That is the unrelenting hunt.”

McDermott went on to say that he makes an effort to block out criticism, including those who advocated for his dismissal in the middle of the season due to the team’s poor performance and Dunne’s embarrassing admissions.

McDermott remarked, “You can’t listen.” “I think we’re approaching this correctly. Quitting is the only way to fail, and I’ve never done that. That has never interested me. No matter what, you always manage to solve it. You always manage to make it there.

“At this point, winning an AFC title and a Super Bowl would be our only remaining goals, and that would be pretty damn fantastic. Over the past seven years, not many organizations can make that claim. That is what motivates us to get out of bed in the morning after we have exhausted all other options.

With Buffalo making the playoffs in each of the last five seasons and ending a 17-year playoff drought in his debut season, McDermott has led the franchise through a tremendous turnaround. However, throughout that period the Bills have only made it past the divisional stage once, losing to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game after the 2020 campaign.

Josh Allen Expresses Coach’s Passion

Josh Allen, the quarterback for the Bills, has conveyed to McDermott a similar message. He stated last week in an interview that he thinks the squad is only a few little adjustments away from winning the Super Bowl.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated that was released on February 20, Allen stated that his recent setbacks are causing him great distress.

“We maintain that we are near. You know we’re right there? stated Allen. Making one or two more plays is all that is required. We must. It weighs a lot on my shoulders.
