According to a Golf Channel story citing several sources, Anthony Kim, a former star of the PGA Tour, will compete in the LIV Golf event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, next week.

Kim, 38, isn’t expected to play for any of the 13 teams in the league; instead, he’ll reportedly claim one of the two wildcard slots available in the 54-player field.

A representative for LIV Golf stated that the league “can’t comment on player speculation” when contacted by GOLF.com on Saturday.

The announcement puts an end to a month-long conjecture on Kim’s potential return to professional golf after a 12-year hiatus. Kim is getting ready to return to professional golf, but she’s still debating whether to play on the PGA Tour or LIV Golf, according to GOLF’s Dylan Dethier last month.

Kim rose to fame both on and off the golf course during her brief tenure on the PGA Tour. Fans of golf, particularly the younger generation, were drawn to his brashness, charisma, and new-school flair. He broke the Masters record for the most birdies in a round (11) and won 5 and 4 at the Ryder Cup after pleading with American captain Paul Azinger to allow him play Sergio Garcia in Sunday singles. He participated in the NBA’s Celebrity All-Star Game and made an appearance on Jay Leno.

Kim won three times: once in the Wachovia Championship in 2008 and once more at the Shell Houston Open in 2010. However, he struggled with ailments in 2012, competing in 10 PGA Tour events before withdrawing from the last three. In the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship, he was eliminated in the opening round of competition.

After a decade of enigmatic sightings and conjecture, it remained uncertain whether Kim would return to the game.

Kim obtained an insurance coverage worth an estimated $10 million, which has contributed to the problem. Kim would take it and turn back to professional golf. According to Dethier, the PGA Tour was working on innovative ways to compensate for that setback. LIV, however, might provide cash up front.

Kim is scheduled to return to Jeddah on Friday.
