Stephen Curry

It’s difficult to argue Steph Curry’s tenure with the Golden State Warriors has been abused, even with four titles in the previous ten seasons.

Particularly considering that only one of those titles has occurred in the previous five years. Now that the Warriors 2023–2024 season has officially ended, make that six.

On April 16, Golden State was defeated by the Sacramento Kings in the play-in round.

Curry was questioned about the team’s future following their elimination game, particularly in relation to the dynastic trio that included Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and him.

His reply wasn’t very energizing.

Following the game on April 16, Curry said to reporters, “I just want to win.” And I’m aware that’s a real possibility. I’m aware that this summer will be filled with discussions and trying to position ourselves for success. I hope that is the result, whatever that implies.

It’s not unheard of to ask for an NBA player ranked in the top-10, or even the top-5.

Curry is considered one of the most erratic superstars in an era of player empowerment because he has consistently shown patience in his front office.

That might be all that’s available. Curry, who turned 36 today, is in the latter nine years of his (possible) Hall of Fame career.

Nobody anticipates that he will end his career outside of Golden State. Curry, Green, and head coach Steve Kerr are all under contract until the 2025–2026 season.

However, it appears unlikely that his co-conspirator, the second half of the “Splash Brothers,” and a future member of the Hall of Fame will make a comeback.

At the end of his 15th season, Curry averaged 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game in 2023–2024.

Goose Egg Dropped by Klay in Elimination Game

With his team facing elimination in the season’s last game, Thompson missed all ten of his shots and failed to score.

This summer, the upcoming free agent will be unrestricted, giving him complete control over his choice of where to sign.

Thompson lingered to reflect on the defeat and his moments with the Warriors as they left the court. He came to a stop, turned around completely, and took in the sights and noises.

However, Thompson’s teammates and head coach gave him great marks despite his scoreless performance in the game that ended the season.

“Klay needs to return. He has a few more good years to go. After the game, Kerr told reporters Anthony Slater and others, “We really want him back.”

Curry said to Slater and other players after the game, “I can never see myself not with those two guys,” in response to a question about playing again with Draymond and Klay.

It’s the most recent development in a Warriors offseason that appears ready for adjustment if they want to keep depending on Curry, the face of the club.

Has Thompson already made plans to leave town? According to one insider, he will consider all options.

Klay is “open to Seeing His Marketplace,” according to Charania.

Thompson will be open to all possibilities this summer, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, ahead of free agency.

According to Charania, “Klay Thompson is very open to seeing his marketplace in free agency,” on an April 17 episode of FanDuel’s “Run It Back” program. “If he does find another place to go, it will be the hardest call of his life to make—calling Draymond Green and Steph Curry and telling them I’m leaving.”

Thompson has long been mentioned as a possible hire for the Orlando Magic.

The Detroit Pistons are predicted by Spotrac to lead the cap space come next season and free agency. Many teams are willing to pay more than Golden State for the guard’s services, but what exactly is he seeking?

Prior to the season, Thompson rejected down a two-year, $48 million extension offer from the Warriors, according to Charania’s story in his newsletter “The Bounce,” published on December 13.

It is difficult to imagine a team paying the 34-year-old more than $24 million a year.

However, it appears that the seasoned Golden State guard is committed to learning that for himself.

In the meantime, Stephen Curry is focused on winning. Whatever that means going forward for him and the Warriors.
