Josh Myers might be replaced by a 2024 NFL Draft selection by the Packers.

The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft may be one of the choices the Green Bay Packers use to enhance at center, Josh Myers, if they decide to replace him this offseason.

On Wednesday, April 17, Dane Brugler released his complete seven-round mock draft. Many fascinating Packers players were listed in the mock draft, including Jackson Powers-Johnson, who was selected with the 25th overall choice.

Brugler stated, “The Packers can attack the offensive line in the draft in a number of ways.” “Choosing Powers-Johnson is one of them; he can improve at center and enable Green Bay to retain Zach Tom at tackle while relocating Josh Myers to guard.”

Powers-Johnson would be an instant improvement at center, but Myers wouldn’t be assured a spot in the starting lineup.

Linebacker Edgerrin Cooper and running back Ray Davis are two more mock draft selections.

Report on Jackson Powers-Johnson Scouting

For offensive linemen drafted in the first round, they must truly stand out. Powers-Johnson, who had a standout 2023 season at Oregon, checks that box.

Powers-Johnson was a four-star recruit and one of Utah’s top high school athletes prior to beginning his college career. Despite receiving offers from Pac-12 colleges and other in-state universities, he chose to commit to Oregon in order to become a member of a dominant team.

At Oregon, Powers-Johnson had to wait his turn with patience. Although he didn’t debut until the most current season, it was well worth the wait. As the nation’s top center at the end of the season, he won the Rimington Trophy and was named a unanimous All-American.

Powers-Johnson, who is 6’3″ and weighs 328 pounds, has a strong build for an interior lineman. He can use his bulk and excellent anchoring skills to block pass rushers.

Even with its larger size, Powers-Johnson does admirably when it comes to space travel. He plays quickly enough to be effective in the second level and takes excellent angles to wear down opponents. Although he will need to improve his technique, especially in the run game, he has the necessary skills and abilities.

The offensive line class of this year is quite strong. Powers-Johnson might slide down the board as a result, making him potentially available for a pick by the Packers.

Zach Tom Could Replace Josh Myers

Zach Tom, a right tackle, might be kicked inside by the Packers, or they could draft a center.

Prior to the draft, ESPN’s Rob Demovsky proposed that the Packers consider Tom a possible Hall of Fame center. Additionally, he hinted that after 2024 the team would be prepared to let go of Myers.

For the Packers this past season, Tom was a pretty reliable right tackle. He was only given credit for two sacks on 700 pass-blocking snaps in 2023 by Pro Football Focus. However, the Packers supposedly think that if Tom is kicked inside, he could be even more formidable.

Should that be the case, the Packers might decide to change their plan for the early round in order to try their luck at a right tackle. That would be consistent with some of the team’s previous visits by players ranked in the top 30, such as Amarius Mims, a former right tackle for Georgia.

The Packers have developed enough linemen throughout the years that supporters won’t be overly concerned with whatever the team decides to do, regardless of how they feel about a possible transfer.
