Lewis Hamilton is obviously dissatisfied with Mercedes after winning six championship championships with the team, as they continue to fail to make any form of meaningful development. F1 specialist Bernie Collins speculated that Hamilton is likely feeling cut off from Mercedes while talking about how depressed the Briton has been lately on video. Collins stated in an interview with the Fast and the Curious podcast:

“I think he is disappointed that the car is still not where it needs to be even though they have made big changes. I feel like potentially because he pushed quite hard in previous years to get changes and they were slow to come, he feels a bit maybe distant from the team, if that’s the right word.”

When new technical regulations were adopted by Formula One in 2022, Mercedes started to lose ground. Following a 2021 race against Red Bull, Mercedes was unable to take advantage of the new ground-effect car regulations. Instead, their simulation data deceived them, causing them to see concerns about porpoising.

Following a difficult 2022, Hamilton told the press in 2023 that he had advised the team on how to play better. He was disappointed, though, because they ignored him.

The irate seven-time winner went so far as to demand responsibility from the Brackley-based team. Nevertheless, Mercedes merely made a few adjustments to the vehicle. They essentially adhered to the same design for their 2023 vehicle, which has left the team with a number of drawbacks.

Hamilton made the unexpected decision to go to Ferrari for the 2025 season after spending the previous two years in the dark and showing no signs of approaching his record-breaking ninth championship. Hamilton expresses nothing except disappointment to the media as the 2024 season goes on. “I’m a bit used to it,” he commented following his DNF in the Australian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton justifies his unexpected Ferrari switch.

Following his unexpected announcement on Instagram that he would be leaving for Ferrari in 2025, Lewis Hamilton also used the platform to share his reasoning for moving to Maranello. The 39-year-old reminded his supporters that he experienced the same feeling when he initially switched from McLaren to Mercedes in 2013. It was “filled with a whole range of emotions.”

He wrote on Instagram, “I was right to make the move then, and it’s the feeling I have again. I know some people didn’t understand it at the time.” The British driver added that his goal is to assist Mercedes in winning again, thus he is not currently concentrating on the 2025 season.

He disclosed that he wants to conclude his collaboration with the Silver Arrows on a positive note and that he is fully dedicated to his work. However, given Ferrari’s success this season, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to suppose that Hamilton is happy with his choice.

In the 2024 season, Ferrari has improved remarkably. With a stunning 1-2 finish at the Australian GP, the team has reduced the distance with Red Bull.
